Logo design for UoN Project AWESOME.

UoN Awesome project team are asking staff and students at the University of Northampton to join in with a variety of activities on our new Waterside site, to observe and record wildlife. Post photos and sightings whilst you are outside enjoying the riverside environment.

For 2018-2019, the team have organised a programme of Changemaker ‘Wednesday Wellbeing walks’ and talks to explore the campus grounds and understand the design and management of the landscape whilst enjoying gentle exercise and fresh air.

The idea of this logo solution was to create the shape of an otter caught in swimming action. Otter specifically has been chosen for the logo because they are not only intelligent but strong animals as well. They have a history of the amazing resilience of the environment, time and temperature changes - how they resisted and populated and some have been spotted around the campus!

“Resilience through change!”.

Being in the centre of the spectrum, it is the colour of balance - a more important concept than many people realise. When the world about us contains plenty of green, this indicates the presence of water, and little danger of famine, so we are reassured by green, on a primitive level.

Strong blues will stimulate clear thought and lighter, soft blues will calm the mind and aid concentration. Consequently, it is serene and mentally calming.
